Ne postoji "problem pasa i macaka lutalica".
Postoji problem neodgovornih vlasnika koji su UZROK i napustene macke i psi koji su POSLEDICA .
Potrebno je ukloniti uzrok ,pa nece biti ni njegovih posledica , sankcionisanjem ljudi koji napustaju svoje pse i macke , u skladu sa vayecim zakonima , postupanjem inspekciojskih sluzbi po zakonu .
Nepostupanje inspekcijskih sluzbi omogucuje opstanak ovog skupog drustvenog problema , indukuje njegovo brutalno protivzakonito resavanje , dovodi do krsenja Ustava Rep.Srbije neprimenjivanjem vazecih zakona .
There is no problem of stray dogs and cats. The problem is the irresponsible owners who abandon their pets, which is against the law and should be fined. Abandoned dogs and cats are the consequence! The cause for this is in the irresponsible keeping of these animals.
No kill strategy for eradication of this cause
The owners who abandon their animal should be punished according to law.
Several projects should be applied at the same time

Belgrade authorities announced (thru media) a big roundup of street/abandoned Dogs.
Reason for this "street cleaning" is a sport manifestation "The European Olympic Youth Festival" (will be held from 21 to 28 July in Belgrade . )

Belgrade authorities practice "street cleaning" for every manifestation they host, this "cleaning" means that all street dogs residing in the area of planed festival- has to be gone. Many are killed by inhumane methods (and you can read about those methods here: www.c4sain.bravehost.com/Reports.html > those are past cases for which we have documentation )
and some Dogs do get bought off from shinters/dog catchers - but meny suffer badly by the time they were held in city kill pound "OVCA".
Shinters/dogcatchers are not animal control agency- they are communal enterprises working on controlling the pest population and are using poisons and other chemicals (like T-61) to kill unwanted Dogs.
If those young people (that are to take participation in this Festiva ) knew what is happening just so they can come in Belgrade and play some game, they would never come.
If those sportiests knew for this massacre of abandoned Dogs, they would not play the game.

On Sunday, November 4, 2007, animal liberation activists around the world will be preparing to commemorate the anniversary of the passing of Barry Horne on November 5, 2001. We ask that each and every animal advocate, no matter where you consider yourself on the continuum of activism, from animal welfare to animal liberation, take a minute to reflect on the life and actions of a man who made the ultimate sacrifice and gave his life for animal liberation. As you plan and carry out your activism keep Barry in your thoughts and in your heart.

Note: Dress warm, it is going to be cold. Don't forget gloves, hats, scarves and comfortable walking shoes. After the candlelight vigil, we will be doing some protests in Barry's name. Also, don't forget that last night the clock was turned back an hour.
Barry Horne was a caring, compassionate individual who campaigned for animals for many years. Although he campaigned in various ways, direct action and animal liberation were the methods he favoured. Barry was imprisoned for a campaign of ALF bomb attacks on targets involved in animal abuse.
Whilst in prison during the late 90`s he embarked on a series of hunger strikes in an effort to pressurise the government to honour their pre-election promise to set up a Royal Commission into the fraudulent `science` of vivisection. His hunger strikes created world wide publicity for the cause. Animal testing was headline news day after day for weeks on end. His third hunger strike pushed his body to the limits and he was very close to death. After 68 days Barry ended his hunger strike believing that government ministers had again promised enough to satisfy his demands.
Once again the government failed to keep their promises. Despite knowing his body had already been caused irreversible damage from that third hunger strike, he embarked on another. After 2 weeks without food he died in Worcester hospital on November 5th 2001. (Reprinted from: http://www.jillphipps.org.uk/lost.htm)

 United States: Government Charges Illegal Whalers
On September 8, a Pacific gray whale suffered a prolonged and painful death at the hands of five members of the Makah Indian tribe, who were acting in violation of U.S. laws and international agreements. HSI reached out to our supporters, and you came through. After being blasted with thousands of emails, the federal government responded by quickly filing charges against the offenders.
 Ethiopia: Mayor Agrees to Stop Dog Poisoning Plans
After receiving thousands of emails from advocates around the world, the mayor of Addis Ababa has agreed to stop poisoning street dogs and look into humane alternatives for controlling the stray population and dealing with rabies. HSI is working with a local organization to develop a long-term solution that benefits animals and people.

GOOD NEWS
Victory for Ethiopian Street Dogs
During the week of the much-anticipated Ethiopian millennium in September, the mayor of Addis Ababa announced a "dog poisoning campaign" to eradicate rabies in the new millennium. When HSI confirmed the announcement, we immediately asked our online advocates to help us protest this inhumane plan, which we knew would be not only cruel but also ineffective.
Over 6,000 people responded, bombarding the mayor of Addis Ababa with letters urging him to rethink this misguided campaign. Happily, he listened.
Thanks to strong international pressure from all of our HSI online advocates, the local government is now open to communication with Humane Society International regarding the development of a humane approach to the street dog overpopulation problem and of course, the rabies issue. HSI will support Ethiopian organization Homeless Animal Protection Society (HAPS) in Addis Ababa, as well as work with government veterinary clinics throughout the city to implement humane means of animal control.

BRUXELLES Souvenez-vous, il y a déja sept ans, Gaia alertait l'opinion en Belgique sur les maltraitances cruelles dont était victime le bétail. Plusieurs années et de nombreux proces plus tard, on a l'impression que l'histoire se répete non plus en Belgique, mais en Europe cette fois. Animals Angels, une association de défense des animaux, a mené une grande enquete sur les transports d'animaux vivants sur les routes européennes. Caméras cachées (ou pas, mais c'est plus rare) en bandouliere, les équipes de l'association ont sillonné les routes européennes et le constat est édifiant. Chaque année, ce sont plusieurs millions de veaux, vaches, cochons, moutons, chevaux qui sont transbahutés sur les routes européennes du nord au sud ou d'est en ouest. Un voyage parfois de plusieurs milliers de kilometres qui dure des dizaines d'heures. Un voyage dont les conditions sont souvent a la limite du supportable pour des animaux entassés dans des bétailleres trop exiguës sans l'eau et la nourriture nécessaires pour tenir le trajet. Résultat : chaque année, des centaines d'animaux meurent dans d'atroces souffrances ou arrivent a destination mutilés, blessés, voire carrément a l'agonie. La nouvelle vidéo qui a été diffusée hier et qui dure sept minutes montre comment ce bétail est accueilli dans les marchés aux bestiaux du Portugal, de l'Espagne et de l'Italie. Des images atroces, parfois insoutenables, qui soulevent le coeur. Pourtant, une législation européenne tres stricte existe pour empecher ce genre de maltraitances insupportables. Elle a été encore renforcée au début de cette année. Mais force est de constater que ce n'est pas encore suffisant. Eurogroup for Animals, au sein duquel se trouve Gaia, demande que la loi soit enfin appliquée et que des sanctions dignes de ce nom soient enfin appliquées aux contrevenants qui font souffrir inutilement les animaux.

An embarrassing reality
Eurogroup for Animals, Compassion in World Farming and Animals Angels showed new evidence that outrageous animal suffering during transport happens every day in the EU. This includes a disturbing video showing injured animals lifted by cranes or pushed by caterpillars, frequent beating of exhausted animals and indifference to pain... Images which speak for themselves.
Contrary to the rhetoric on transparency and consumer information, the shocking reality is still largely hidden to EU citizens, who still do not really know the truth about what they have in their plate.

Celebrity supporters of Animal Defenders International (ADI) were 'jailed' in a primate cage in London today to promote International Primate Day on Saturday, 1st September. This year's event focuses on Aid's campaign to end primate experiments in Europe.
Celebrities who went 'inside' included:

Pigs boiled alive - MEET YOUR MEAT
In the United States more than 120 million pigs are slaughtered for human consumption each year.
Factory-farmed pigs are raised in crowded pens enclosed inside of huge barns. The air in these structures is filled with eye and lung-burning ammonia created from the waste collected below the floors.
Breeding sows spend their lives in metal crates so small that they cannot even turn around. Devoid of adequate space and freedom of movement, these sows often develop stereotypic behavior - repetitive movements that serves no practical purpose and that indicate psychological distress - such as head bobbing and rail biting.
At the slaughterhouse pigs are stunned (often inadequately) and hung upside down. Their throats are then cut, and they are bled to death. If workers fail to kill a pig with the knife, that pig is carried on the conveyer belt to the next station, the scalding tank, where he or she may be boiled alive. |

HELL ON WEELS- FRIENDS, MEET YOUR MEAT
While driving from Los Angeles to Chicago, Saverio Truglia stopped at a truck stop in southern Utah to make a sandwich for lunch.
"Suddenly," he said,"the air became laden with the smells of live hogs." He tried to ignore the
pungent odors blowing toward him.
"What I couldn't ignore," he said,"was the heated life-and-death struggle occurring inside the semi's perforated steel shell. Snouts and mouths jutted through air holes while human-looking eyes stared to the outside."
Truglia went over to the trailer and peered inside. He saw "a sea of enormous pink hogs, all struggling for space in the cramped container. Those pigs that somehow got lifted up by the dense crowd were riding the others, with front hooves gouging the bloody backs of those who managed to keep all fours on the ground. This caused
considerable panic and certainly pain in the surrounding animals."
Knowing how intelligent pigs are, Truglio spoke to the pigs at the Utah truck stop. His voice momentarily calmed them, long enough for him to shoot a roll of film. Then the driver pulled the semi away, headed for the slaughterhouse.
A Trucker's Story
As one pig truck driver told PETA, truckers use electric prods to load the hog trailers to bursting, and they avoid weighing stations at all costs. Many pigs suffer rectal prolapse as they struggle tosqueeze between others. "They're packed in so tight," the driver told us, "their guts actually pop out their butts-a little softball of guts actually comes out."
He also told how one pig who got loose and had never been in the hot sun crawled under the truck for shade. The other driver took a crowbar and beat her teeth out of her head. Then he ran the truck over her. He also told of another driver who "killed six hogs with a 'hot shot' electric prod-three down the throat and three up the rectum." Some truckers also use gaff-type metal hooks to load the pigs-they insert the hooks into every orifice of the animals, including their eyes, mouths, and rectums.
One-Way Ticket to Torture
In winter, some pigs die frozen to the sides of the trucks. In summer, some die from heat exhaustion. Some fall and suffocate when additional animals are forced to pile in on top of them. All are in a panic-you can see it in their eyes-and some die of heart attacks.
The unloading at the slaughterhouses is as ugly as the loading. After being confined in an immobile state all their lives, the pigs' legs and lungs are so weak that they can barely walk. But when they see space ahead of them, some of them begin running for the first time in their lives. Like fillies, they jump and buck, overjoyed with their first feel of freedom. Then, suddenly, they collapse and cannot get up.They can only lie there, trying to breathe.Then drivers hook their legs up to winches to pull them and often pull their legs and shoulders right off them.
At the slaughterhouse, some pigs are dismembered and skinned alive when the stun gun misses its mark.
Pigs Take a Detour From Slaughterhouse
Paul was 5 months old when he and nearly 200 other pigs were discovered inside a slaughterhouse bound truck that the driver had parked and abandoned. Raised on a factory farm, they were covered with urine burns from living in stacked cages and open cuts from being jabbed by workers. Some pigs were dead, and some were having seizures. They trembled at the sight of people, and having been raised immobile, when they were unloaded at a sanctuary they stumbled and could barely walk.
A pork producer claimed them but, when asked to pay $10,000 for the cost of their care, refused and signed them over to the sanctuary. There, tender loving care healed them. Now Paul frolics happily with the other pigs and loves to have his belly rubbed. |

BUT OVCA HELL IN BELGRADE , Novi Sad, Nis , Subotica, Sombor, Pancevo, Zajecar, Zrenjanin,Mladenovac,Kragujevac .......135 cities of Serbia: EXIST AND steady WORK , in every cities and villages in Serbia !!! in spite these killings are in opposite to Law of veterinary.
No Hope for stray dogs and cats in Serbia ?!
Parliament of Serbia will make in September -November ,2007. changes in Law of vet- and mass killing will be in agreement to this Law. That is horrible !Please help animals !
